From April - May 2021 Steve Watson spoke to us on the book of Acts.
By concentrating on Acts, the beginning of the church, we pray that we experience God speaking specifically to West Grange as he did to individual churches as found in Revelation 2 & 3.
Below are the video messages from that series. We pray that in the same way that we were blessed by his ministry you will be blessed too as you watch and put the challenges into practice.
Recorded 6th June 2021
This morning Wally shared with us the need for the Holy Spirit in our lives and Church. He used examples of four people from history who were deeply impacted by the Holy Spirit and split his message into 4 sections one for each person. The impact of these people changed the world as did the first Church in the book of Acts.
Our songs this morning all centred around the person of the Holy Spirit. In some ways today was our Pentecost Sunday.
Recorded 30th May 2021
This week we looked at what happened to Paul after he was shipwrecked (see last week's message). Steve used the opportunity to touch on the subject of the dangers of the occult, sorcery and magic, but that Jesus is greater and more powerful as we also looked briefly at the miracles which took place through Paul.
As this was the last session in Acts we were also given time to reflect on the series of teaching and what God may be saying to us as individuals and as a Church. We have included the PowerPoint at the end of the video so you too are able to reflect. The questionnaire is available here.
Recorded 23rd May 2021
Today is Pentecost Sunday when we traditionally remember the Holy Spirit (part of the Godhead) being given to the Church. His power is what transformed the disciples and started the first Church and was the catalyst for all that we have ready in Acts this far.
However, breaking with tradition we are looking at a very detailed account of Paul being shipwrecked on his way to Rome. Steve in his message challenged us to think about how we deal with difficulties and storms in our lives - do we truly trust God?
Recorded 16th May 2021
Today's message from Steve could have also been called "How to evangelise", using examples from our passage of how Paul went about telling people about the Lord Jesus Christ.
Unfortunately, just before Steve's message, we lost our camera feed, however rather than seeing and hearing him at least you can hear him and see his Powerpoint.
Recorded 9th May 2021
Today Steve tackled the subject of racism using the text from Acts 17 verse 26 "From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands."
It is important to note that in God's Kingdom there are no races and everyone is equal. The Church should be a snapshot of the community in which it is in. It is fair to say that the subject sparked some debate in households following the message.
Recorded 2nd May 2021
Today we looked at an incident that happened during Paul's 2nd missionary journey believed to be around 49-52AD when he went to Philippi in Macedonia with Silas and Luke and started a Church there.
We also looked at how another incident started an uproar in the city and got them thrown in prison, which resulted in an amazing "escape".
Recorded 25th April 2021
Join us as we look at Acts 13:13-52 together and the explanation of what the Latin term "Tertium Genus" means. Steve in his message encouraged us to look past our nationality and instead base our identity as being part of the Kingdom of God and how important it is to be part of the family of God - The "Third Nation".
Recorded 18th April 2021
Join us as we look at the account recorded in Acts 10 when the apostle Peter had to have his prejudices challenged by God, when he was asked to go to a Roman Centurian called Cornelius and tell him the good news about Jesus. However, Cornelius was a "gentile" as he was non-Jewish and Jews did not usually associate with "gentiles".
We also had Vera giving her testimony of how she came to become a follower a Jesus a few weeks ago.
Recorded 11th April 2021
This morning we looked at how Paul became a follower of Jesus Christ and the transformation from a person bent on arresting and killing Christians, to becoming a follower of Christ himself.
Recorded 4th April 2021
This morning, on the day when we remember Jesus rising from the dead, we looked at Acts 4:1-22, where we see the fallout following the lame man being healed, which we looked at a few weeks ago.
Peter then proclaimed before the Jewish council and all who listened that it was by the power of the risen Lord Jesus that the lame man had been healed and was able to walk again.
Acts 4:32 - 5:11
Recorded 28th March 2021
Today is Palm Sunday which is celebrated the week before Easter Sunday. It is the story of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a Donkey with much celebration. Quite ironic that in a week's time those crowds celebrating his arrival would be shouting "Crucify him" instead.
Breaking with tradition however we continued through the book of Acts looking at the life of the early Church. Today we looked at the way that they loved each other and shared what they had.
Recorded 21st March 2021
Continuing our series through the book of Acts we came across the well-known account of the healing of the lame man at the temple. Steve had us imagine that we were the beggar and how that may have been like. We had to use our imagination a few times during our service. Finally, we thought of "Times of refreshing" and what that means and looks like.
Recorded 14th March 2021
Join us as we continue to in our series through the book of Acts. This week Steve concentrated on chapter 2 verses 42 to 47. Looking at what the first Church did to grow and expand. Once again it was a very challenging and thought-provoking message.
We pray that as you watch you will be blessed and challenged to follow Jesus more whole-heartedly or maybe even decide to become a follower of Jesus.
Recorded 7th March 2021
This morning we started our new 3 month series looking at the book of Acts. The challenge this morning through Steve was to use the gifts God has given us to be His witnesses.
Jonathan led our time using songs recorded at West Grange to draw us into God's presence and allow us to be receptive to His voice.
We pray that you will hear God speaking to you as you watch and listen and engage with the worship.
